NOMAD OF THE WEEK // ARVED FUCHS, the first man to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole by f

German explorer, Arved Fuchs earned the nickname « Ice Fox » through his many Arctic expeditions by sailboat, kayak, skis and dogsled. He has written numerous books, lectured about his extreme and spectacular journeys, ad is outspoken on issues surrounding climate change and global warming.

He always loved being in the great outdoors, getting out of his comfort zone, far away from the daily grind, to get lost into nature and find back the essentials of life. Moreover, he wanted to drive himself all the way to the ends of earth for the thrill of adventure and the physical challenge.

He grew up in a small village in Schleswig Holstein (the northernmost state in Germany). He lived constantly outdoors and enjoying a simple way of life, where he used books instead TV to learn things. He has been inspired by some stories about adventurers and explorers like James Cook. Then, he swore to himself that one day, he would be just like them. He has always kept his goal in mind and never been touched by doubt or abandon. He kept believing in his dreams and they came true.

Every trip is different and some equipments are necessary to face up to those extreme travels. But as most people think, you do not need the most expensive gear to be prepared. First, you need to judge yourself and know your limitations. What can I do? Where are my limits? Everyone has to follow an intensive preparation and training first.

A professional adventurer like him could help many beginners who want to push out theirs limits.

Have a look to his website.
